Starting Up Again

Hello everybody! My name is Danny Dorn and I play outfield and first base for the Cincinnati Reds Organization.  I was born and raised in Diamond Bar California where I attended Cal State Fullerton and was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in 2006.  Well, it’s that time of year when the weather begins to heat up and the baseball season begins.  I worked hard during my off season to stay in shape so I’m ready to go! Our spring training is currently located in Sarasota, Florida.  Next year we will be moving to Goodyear Arizona and from what I have heard and read it is going to be a beautiful facility.  Being from the west coast, I will not miss flying across the country and it will be nice to be closer to home.  However, Sarasota is very nice with warm sunshine and beautiful beaches.  Minor league camp for position players officially started March 10th, but I came down a few days earlier to get settled in and get many of the fitness tests out of the way that must be completed at the beginning of spring.  I always look forward to spring training so I can finally get out on the field and get those competitive juices flowing again.  It is always great to see the many friends that I have made through playing baseball.  I will try and keep the posts coming to keep you guys updated on what is happening in Sarasota.

Danny,
Good to see you on here blogging. Great season last year (and the year before, and the year before that while we are at it). Hopefully I will get a chance to see you down in Louisville this year with the Bats. Best of luck in ST.

Goodyear Ballpark is fabulous. I was there for the grand opening. If you want to see some pictures, you can find them on my blog – http://patsrunning.blogspot.com/2009/02/goodyear-heart-and-sole-run.html

It’s a running blog, but I took lots of pics of the stadium.

Good luck DD. I’m going to miss watching you and Red play together. Play hard and get ur done.

Papa Chubby.

Welcome Danny! I love reading player blogs, and it is great to have a Reds prospect keeping the fans updated. I look forward to your posts. Good luck to you.

Danny,
I just want to welcome you to North Carolina. I think that you will like the ballpark over in Zebulon. I’ve lived in Wake Forest for the last couple of years and have taken in a few ballgames at Mudcat stadium. I was ecstatic when I learned that my favorite team, the Reds, were moving their AA affiliate nearby. I will make the 30 minute trek to the ballpark with my half season of season tickets. I know after coming back from Spring training last week and seeing other players that will join you in AA that we should have a good season in NC. I just hope that you and some others only spend 1/2 a season in NC and that you spend the rest of the season in either Louisville or Cincy. I’ll see you on game day from seat B1 in section 103. Good Luck.

OOps! Missed seeing this blog, glad to see it. I was a bit surprised that you were not invited to Major League camp. I fully expect to see you at GABP before too long, once the has-beens prove to be just that. Stay sharp, and focus on pounding AAA, so as to be un-forgettable, when Reds brass realize they need some run production. (And always remember, you write, throw, and hit with the proper hand)!

Danny,

Not sure how often you check this thing, but I want you to know I’m a big fan of yours and I’m rootin for you 100%.
Hope to catch a Louisville game this season and see you there.

Hey Danny,
I’m originally from Adrian, MN. Our Dad’s are cousins. I moved to Cincinnati a few years ago, and I’m a huge fan. Hope to see you in Louisville soon, and with the big club shortly thereafter.

Danny,
I worked with your Uncle Pat in California for almost 20 years, and we’re still working together in a post-retirement gig. I think it’s great how you’ve worked so hard to archive a spot in the Reds organization, congratulations. I hope to get to see you play out here in San Jose this year, if you get time after a game, my son Kenny (13) would love to meet ya. He’s played since he was 7 and lives the game. Good luck on a great season, a hope to see ya in the bigs before to long!!
